Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce is organizing an event on Federal Government Contracting and Intellectual Property Services for Small and Medium Businesses. The event will enlighten the members for Doing Business with the Government of Canada and how to protect your Intellectual Property Rights.

Darlene Carreau

Director General of Business Services at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).

Since December 2015, Darlene Carreau has been serving as the Director General of Business Services at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). The Business Services Branch (BSB) is responsible for developing CIPO's overall service strategy to deliver quality services that are timely, client-centric and help promote a culture of service management excellence throughout the organization. In addition, the branch is responsible for designing and delivering a suite of IP products, training tools and services to raise awareness among small and medium-sized businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators to bolster innovation, competitiveness and long-term growth.

     
    The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is a part of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. CIPO is a Special Operating Agency (SOA) and is responsible for the administration and processing of the greater part of intellectual property (IP) in Canada. CIPO's areas of activity include trademarks, patents, copyright, industrial designs and integrated circuit topographies. CIPO's mandate is to deliver high quality and timely IP services to customers, and to increase awareness, knowledge and effective use of IP by Canadians.
     
   

Menelaos (Manny) Argiropoulos

Chief, SME Stakeholder Engagement, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) – Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME)

Mr. Menelaos (Manny) Argiropoulos has been working for Public Services and Procurement Canada, Ontario Region since 1991. He has held various positions, ranging from Real Estate Advisor to Geomatics Project Manager and is currently the Chief, SME Stakeholder Engagement with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME). Mr. Argiropoulos is responsible for supplier outreach and engagement for OSME. He also delivers seminars that assist and inform suppliers in Ontario on how to do business with the Government of Canada, how to navigate the federal procurement system and how to utilize www.buyandsell.gc.ca, the federal procurement website.

     
  The office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) - Ontario Region was established in August 2006 within Public Services and Procurement Canada to support the Government of Canada’s commitment to a procurement system open to small and medium and regionally based businesses. OSME’s mandate is to ensure fairness, openness and transparency in federal government procurement. The Government of Canada is committed to giving small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to compete for government business. The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) supports SMEs by working to reduce barriers and by simplifying requirements for SMEs that want to do business with the Government of Canada.
